Legal Innovators For Tomorrow (LIFT) Program
LIFT is a two-year program operated by the Louisiana State Bar Association which provides new attorneys with the resources necessary to develop an innovative, public interest-oriented solo or small law firm. The program is designed to support these lawyers in developing cutting-edge practices, sustaining profitable careers and serving the public interest through excellent legal services. The LIFT program is working with the Family Justice Center to develop Family Law attorneys who are versed on Domestic Violence legal issues.

Louisiana Civil Justice Center
The Louisiana Civil Justice Center offers a legal service hotline, referrals, and counseling on civil cases. Applications must be filled out over the phone to determine eligibility. Free for those who qualify.
Louisiana Law Help
LawHelp.Org is an online resource for people living on low-incomes and the legal organizations that serve them. LawHelp.org provides referrals to local legal aid and public interest law offices, basic information about legal rights, self-help information, court information, links to social service agencies, and more. Under the Family and Children Section, this website offers information on Child Abuse, Child Support, Custody and Visitation, Divorce, Domestic Violence and Spousal Support. Southeast Louisiana Legal Services Corporation administers Louisiana’s LawHelp Project, which is made possible by funding from Legal Services Corporation and the Louisiana Bar Foundation.
New Orleans Bar Association
The NO Bar Association website contains information on their Lawyer Referral Service which is a non-profit service offering unbiased referrals based on lawyer’s qualifications. The service is free and their lawyers will charge no more than $25 for an initial consultation of up to 30 minutes.

Project Save – Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans
Project SAVE assists survivors of domestic violence residing in Orleans Parish obtain free emergency legal representation. Staff attorneys help with legal orders to keep survivors of domestic violence safe and to protect their legal rights. These legal services may include temporary restraining and protection orders, temporary child support, custody, and use of property.

If you need immediate help in cases of Domestic Violence or if you want to talk to someone about representing yourself, you can go to the Help Desk at the Civil District Court. The Self-Help desk is located 421 Loyola Avenue on the fourth floor. It is open on Monday and Wednesdays from 10am to 12pm and from 1pm-3pm and on Fridays from 10am-12pm. The Self-Help desk in the Clerk’s Office will provide assistance for family matters such as divorce, domestic abuse, restraining orders, child support, and child custody.

The NOFJC is a comprehensive one-stop center for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking, and their children. The Center works with other agencies to provide coordinated and consolidated legal, law 63 enforcement, and social and health care services. The Trauma Recovery program provides counseling for anyone impacted by family violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or childhood sexual abuse. They offer individual, group, and family counseling. All counselors are masters’ level clinicians or interns under supervision of a licensed clinical social worker. Free.
